Former South Carolina defensive back Jaycee Horn loves what he’s hearing about Shane Beamer.

Horn recently caught up with Julia Morris of WYFF to share his thoughts about the direction of his alma mater. He praised what he has heard about Beamer’s culture, expecting the approach to produce more wins.

“Coach Beamer is building a special program,” Horn said. “It’s filled with love. Got some good recruits coming in. I just talk to the guys that are still on the team, that played with me, they tell me how different it is, how they can really feel the love from coaches. That’s obviously going to make guys play harder, so I think it will translate to more wins.”

Horn played under Will Muschamp from 2018-to-2020. After Muschamp’s dismissal on Nov. 16, 2020, Horn opted out of the remainder of the season to focus on the NFL Draft. He was selected No. 8 overall by the Carolina Panthers.

During Horn’s 3 seasons, the Gamecocks went 7-6 (2018), 4-8 (2019) and 2-8 (2020). Beamer exceeded expectations in 2021 by guiding South Carolina to a 7-6 season.

Horn, and many Gamecocks fans, think the program has a bright future with Beamer. Year 2 of the Beamer era opens Sept. 3 when South Carolina hosts Georgia State.
