A Houston (Miss.) high school playoff game was postponed following the death of a member of their team on Friday, according to WCBI News.

The Houston Hilltoppers were preparing for the 1st round of the MHSAA Class 4A state playoffs Friday when news came down that sophomore defensive lineman Jamarcus Hall had passed away. He was found in his home around 8 a.m. ET. According to multiple reports, a cause of death has yet to be determined.

“We’re all just in shock right now and saddened by the loss,” Houston football coach Baylor Dampeer said, per the Mississippi Clarion Ledger.

“(Hall) means a lot to the guys that he played with. He played ball with those guys a long time growing up. It’s a really close group. We’ll carry heavy hearts going forward just knowing what he meant to them. He’s a kid that had a bright future.”

The 6-foot-5 prospect reportedly held an offer to Mississippi State, just an hour south of Houston. Bulldogs head coach Mike Leach tweeted his condolences for the team and family on Friday.

The Hilltoppers were to play Senatobia on Friday, but that game has been rescheduled for Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Hall had played in 2 games this season for Houston (8-2) and recorded 2 tackles.
