Impersonating college football coaches is one of the most popular bits, perhaps only outside of politicians as a group.

But actor Jamie Foxx may have delivered the most spot-on rendition of a classic Southern college football coach.

“Guys, I know all of you, I know where your family’s from,” Foxx said at Georgia Tech. “I’ve been in your house, but now that you’re on the field, you’re mine. … I love all of you guys, but I can’t have all of you on the field, so somebody’s parents is not going to see their son play. You’re not going to have dirt on your jersey, but that’s fine, because I still love you.”

So why was Foxx at Georgia Tech? According to the AJC, he was in metro Atlanta to shoot a movie, and looking for a gym where he could work without attracting notice. With a connection to former Georgia Tech football player Osahon Tongo, Foxx made use of Tech’s weight room Wednesday to get in a workout.

Of course sports movie buffs will remember that the 53-year-old Foxx played the role of quarterback Willie Beamen in the 1999 football movie “Any Given Sunday.”
