Former Texas A&M QB released by the Minnesota Vikings, per league sources
Kellen Mond, a standout quarterback at Texas A&M, will no longer be playing for the Minnesota Vikings this season, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Media.
Last week, the Vikings made a trade for Nick Mullens, pushing more of the agenda on being unsatisfied with the backup quarterbacks. Mond and Sean Mannion were battling for the position.

A third-round pick out of Texas A&M in 2021, Mond had a lot of fans in the pre-draft process. But he struggled in preseason action and Minnesota's new regime traded for Nick Mullens recently. Now, Mond heads to waivers.

Vikings have not officially announced the waiver move, yet. Mond and Mannion both started the summer as backup signal callers to starter Kirk Cousins.
Mond was a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft (No. 66 overall) and even started in one game during his rookie season.
An unfortunate ending for Mond, who was 2-for-3 for 5 yards in his official start as a rookie. He also accounted for 303 yards on 29-for-51 splits with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions this past preseason.
Although a short stint with the Vikings, Mond, could muster more potential for other teams moving forward. We will keep all eyes on the trade deadline, as the roster go from 80 to 53, by 4:00 pm EST on Tuesday.
