Texas A&M DL, former 5-star recruit, announces he will enter transfer portal
Texas A&M is set to see a highly-regarded defensive line recruit from the 2022 recruiting class enter the transfer portal.
LT Overton, a former 5-star who has played in every game to date for the Aggies over the past 2 seasons, told On3’s Hayes Fawcett of his decision on Tuesday evening.
Overton, an Atlanta-area native, was originally scheduled to graduate high school in 2023. However, in Feb. 2022, he reclassified to the 2022 recruiting class and graduated a year early. He was considered by 247Sports as the No. 14 recruit in the country, the No. 4 defensive lineman in the class, and the No. 3 player in the state.
He immediately saw playing time as a true freshman, totaling 31 tackles, 3.0 tackles for a loss, and a sack in 2022 while playing all 12 games and starting 3 times. His best game came against Auburn in Nov. 2022 as he was credited with 9 stops.
In 2023, Overton again played in every game, making 17 tackles. His high was in November, making 5 tackles against Ole Miss.
