There were a lot of standouts from Texas A&M’s big 59-7 season-opening victory over Northwestern State on Thursday night, but one of those was RB Trayveon Williams.

Williams ran for 240 yards and three touchdowns against Northwestern State — an incredible performance no matter the opponent.

Following the big win, Williams was eager to give credit to his teammates for giving him plenty of room to run:

“It was just a great opportunity, finally being able to come back out here and play in front of Kyle Field, kicking off the season right, the Jimbo era,” he said. “Kudos to our offensive line, quarterback, tight ends. All those guys went out there and had a great game. I’m just glad that can translate onto my part and an overall win.”

Coming into the season, Williams was excited about playing in coach Jimbo Fisher’s pro-style system. After one game, it’s clear that the system is working for him.

However, a tougher test against Clemson awaits the Aggies next weekend.
