Former Tennessee LB Jeremy Banks is looking for a new NFL opportunity. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived Banks, the club announced Monday.

Banks had signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent earlier this year.

Banks was with the Vols for 5 seasons (2018-22). He played in 48 games, making 19 starts. A running back who converted to linebacker, Banks finished with 219 tackles, including 18 for loss and 5.5 sacks, along with 3 interceptions, 7 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.

Banks’ most productive year on Rocky Top came in 2021 when he recorded 128 tackles, which ranked No. 2 in the SEC and tied for No. 7 nationally. Ahead of the draft, Banks earned an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He was projected as a Round 4 pick by NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein but went undrafted.

With training camp getting underway, there’s plenty of time for Banks to land elsewhere and potentially make the roster. We’ll see what’s next for the former UT defender.
