The champ got paid to come back home.

Tee Martin recently make his long-awaited return to Rocky Top to serve as an offensive assistant under Jeremy Pruitt and Phillip Fulmer. Martin’s specific role has yet to be defined, that’s likely coming after National Signing Day, but early indications are the former Volunteer quarterback will be coaching receivers for Tennessee in 2019.

What did it take for the program to finally get Martin to return home? The starting quarterback for Tennessee’s last national championship team has agreed to a two-year deal worth $450,000 annually, according to his memorandum of understanding released by the school on Tuesday.

This news was first reported by Trey Wallace of The Read Optional and FOX Sports Knoxville.

Martin previously served as offensive coordinator and receivers coach at USC. During his coaching career, Martin has been named National Recruiter of the Year by 247Sports and has been honored as a Frank Broyles Award semifinalist as one of the nation’s finest assistant coaches.
