The fourth weekend of the college football season is nearly upon us and there isn’t a much better way to enjoy it than watching nine games involving SEC teams, whether you are lounging on your couch or watching on the go via your favorite mobile device. We’ve learned a few things about the conference’s teams in the first few weeks, and now we’ve rated all nine games on watchability. These rankings are subjective but factor in league and national impact along with how exciting and how close the games will be. Games are ranked on a 1-5 Georgia Dome scale (the site of the SEC Championship Game), with 5 being the most watchable game and 1 being the least.

5 GEORGIA DOMES

None this week.

4 GEORGIA DOMES

Tennessee at Florida — Neither team is ranked, but both are getting votes in the AP Poll and the winner could move into the Top 25 next week. More importantly, the winner might prove to be Georgia’s chief competition for the SEC East title. Tennessee is trying to reestablish itself as a national power after falling out of the Top 25 following a loss to Oklahoma two weeks ago. Florida is 3-0 but hasn’t necessarily impressed a lot of people. This is the Gators’ opportunity to show they’ve made big strides in the first season under Jim McElwain. This one promises to be entertaining and reveal a lot about the strength of the SEC East.

3 GEORGIA DOMES

No. 8 LSU at Syracuse — The Tigers need to get some credit for going on the road to play an ACC opponent, and with the Orange 3-0 heading into this one the Carrier Dome will be rocking. But Syracuse has wins over Rhode Island, Wake Forest and Central Michigan, so it hasn’t faced a challenge like stopping Leonard Fournette. LSU should win fairly easily, but inter-conference matchups such as these are always interesting, at least at the start.

Mississippi State at Auburn — It’s a veteran star quarterback, MSU’s Dak Prescott, versus a first-time starter in Auburn’s Sean White. Auburn is reeling after barely surviving Jacksonville State, then taking it on the chin at LSU, so the Tigers could be a desperate team back on The Plains against a beatable Mississippi State team. But the Bulldogs have experience at some key spots and gave LSU a tougher time in Starkville. Tune in to see if White can save Auburn’s season or if Mississippi State might once again contend in the SEC West.

No. 25 Missouri at Kentucky — The Missouri offense has some major issues, but if Russell Hansbrough returns from injury this weekend it could be a fun matchup of teams with outstanding running backs. Hansbrough makes Missouri a much better team, and the Wildcats rely heavily on Stanley “Boom” Williams. If either team can get its passing game going, they might have a good shot at winning a game that helps sort out the pecking order in the SEC East.

No. 14 Texas A&M vs. Arkansas — The Aggies and Razorbacks agreed to take the series to the Dallas metro area for a game at AT&T Stadium, and it might interesting to see if the neutral site proves to be an advantage to either team. But if they both continue on the route they are on, expect Texas A&M to have its way against the Razorbacks, but perhaps this is the week Arkansas can get it together. It’s got to happen soon if Arkansas has any hope of salvaging this season.

2 GEORGIA DOMES

Central Florida at South Carolina — The Gamecocks’ 4-point win against North Carolina on opening night is the only thing that keeps this from being a matchup of 0-3 teams. Central Florida’s struggles have been fairly shocking with losses to Florida International and Furman. But there’s still some name recognition and pride remaining with these programs, and each surely views it as an opportunity to turn the season around. South Carolina should probably be able to handle the Knights, but Steve Spurrier’s teams have been a bit difficult to predict as of late.

Louisiana Monroe at No. 12 Alabama — The quest to get back into the College Football Playoff race begins right here for Alabama. The Crimson Tide has some issues to work, out and the Warhawks might be an ideal team to do it against, but don’t expect this one to be particularly competitive. However, it will be interesting to see how Nick Saban’s team responds to the loss against Ole Miss and if the secondary looks improved against a fairly decent ULM passing game.

Vanderbilt at No. 3 Ole Miss — They are looking to keep the celebration going in The Grove as the Rebels take the field for the first time since knocking off Alabama and rising back into the AP top 5. Vandy won’t necessarily be a cakewalk as the Commodores hung around with Georgia a few weeks ago, but it’s hard to imagine Vandy having what it takes to slow down Chad Kelly and the unbelievable Ole Miss offense enough to stay in the game.

1 GEORGIA DOME

Southern at No. 7 Georgia — Some oddsmakers have made the Bulldogs a 55-point favorite against the FCS opponent, but it might be interesting to tune in and see how many passes in a row Georgia quarterback Greyson Lambert can complete this week.
