A heartbreaking story out of Texas has produced another horrific reality.

Patti Stevens, the wife of a jogger murdered earlier this month by former Texas A&M wide receiver Thomas Johnson, was found dead of suspected suicide inside the couple’s home on Sunday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Police responded to a call from friends to check on Stevens at the couple’s home Sunnyvale. Law enforcement found Stevens’ body mid-afternoon according to Raul Reyna, a spokesman for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.

Stevens reportedly told the Dallas Morning News last week that she struggled to live without her husband, Dave, of 25 years.

“Dave was the love of my life and I’m lost without him,” Stevens said on Oct. 19. “People need to know that this was a wonderful person going out and doing what he loved to do.”

Dave was killed on Oct. 12 by Johnson who randomly attacked him on a jogging trail with a machete. Johnson admitted to killing Stevens to police.
