Criticizing the broadcasters: The Jesse Palmer jinx and more
Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott had a pretty impressive streak going.
He had thrown 288 consecutive passes without an interception – until Jesse Palmer started blabbing about it during his color commentary of the Bulldogs game against Kentucky on SEC Network.

As the announcers jinx usually goes, Prescott’s 289th pass attempt landed in the hands of a Kentucky defender.

But, hey, didn’t Dak get the last laugh? He accounted for six touchdowns as Mississippi State blew out the Wildcats, and his streak of 288 passes without an interception ranks third all-time on the SEC list behind Alabama’s AJ McCarron and Kentucky’s Andre Woodson.
Gary Danielson: Tennessee has arrived
During Tennessee’s visit to Alabama on Saturday, a game which the Vols lost to drop to 3-4 on the season, CBS color commentator Gary Danielson declared that Tennessee “had arrived” as a program.
Needless to say, the fans of the former national championship program were just as disgusted with that declaration as the fans of the other 13 teams in the league that know the Vols are still a ways away from “arriving” as a SEC contender.

Verne Lundquist: Tennessee head coach Butch “Johns”
We’ve been known to give the veteran CBS play-by-play man a little grief from time to time about his mispronunciation of names.
So when some fans heard him say “Butch Johns” in reference to Tennessee coach Butch Jones during Saturday’s broadcast of the Vols and Crimson Tide, you had to know that we’d make mention of it here.

Andre Ware: “Arkansas” and “Auburn”
One of the fundamentals of broadcasting college football is getting the names of the schools correct.
It appears as though SEC Network color commentator Andre Ware was having all kinds of trouble distinguishing Arkansas and Auburn during the overtime thriller on Saturday afternoon.
