Three Auburn Tigers have caught the eye of Reese’s Senior Bowl executive director Phil Savage recently. After a near miss against Ole Miss and a win at Texas A&M, the Auburn defenders are looking to earn a trip to the Mobile, Ala., all-star game.

“Cassanova McKinzy showed up versus Ole Miss, while Blake Countess and Jonathan Jones made a couple of plays,” Savage said.

McKinzy, a native of Birmingham, Ala., has 59 total tackles and leads the Tigers with nine tackles for loss and four sacks.

In the secondary, Jones has broken up nine passes, while Countess has defended seven passes and intercepted two.

Savage is also interested in Auburn receivers Melvin Ray and Ricardo Louis.

A pair of LSU Tigers also have made it on Savage’s radar despite to loss to Alabama last week that the executive director saw in person in Tuscaloosa.

“Vadal Alexander and Deion Jones have had quality senior seasons,” Savage said.

Alexander, a 6-foot-6, 329 pound offensive tackle, has been instrumental in the LSU rushing attack this year.

Defensively, Jones is second on the team in tackles from his linebacker position. The New Orleans native has 60 tackles, six for loss, 2.5 sacks and he also has a pair of interceptions.

Another star continues to shine, in Savage’s opinion. That’s Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott.

“I will be at Mississippi State-Alabama,” Savage said. “I am looking forward to seeing Dak Prescott and company. And we will have two people at Auburn-Georgia and I will be visiting Georgia (Tuesday).”

At least four Georgia players have a chance to get a bid to the game. The Senior Bowl will also be represented at LSU-Arkansas.

The all-star game is scheduled for Jan. 26.
