Just because it was championship weekend doesn’t mean that players, coaches or fans are exempt from the dreaded blooper reel. Here’s a look at some of the not-so-elegant moments from around the country.

Verne is impressed

Had to include this Vine because the continuous loop of CBS play-by-play man Verne Lundquist quickly devolves from being the best thing you’ll watch today to the video that’ll land you in the loony bin if you listen to it long enough. Apparently, Lundquist really enjoyed Calvin Ridley’s catch over Florida Gators defensive backs Vernon Hargreaves III and Marcus Maye.
Yoink!

Alabama quarterback Jake Coker is going to have to celebrate the Crimson Tide’s SEC Championship without his hat, courtesy of this sticky-fingered fan.

HB or LB?

Naashon Hughes just wanted to see what it was like to play offense for once. The Texas linebacker got caught offside against Baylor, so he lined up with the Bears’ offense. At least he decided to tackle the right player.
 Another week, another targeting call

It’s (not) comforting to know that targeting happens outside the SEC, in this instance, the culprit was Clemson safety T.J. Green who leveled this hit on North Carolina return man Ryan Switzer.

Well, that escalated quickly

Things got ugly on Saturday during the Texas-Baylor matchup in Waco as one Longhorn player decided to test his boxing skills. Fortunately, no one threw-down with the bozo. Texas went on to upset the Bears 23-17.

 Bama Blow Up

Quick (and painful) football lesson, kids: keep your head up or someone will make you pay. In this instance, it was Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley with the devastating hit on a Florida defender.

Just go for it

Florida’s kicking game struggled against Alabama in the SEC Championship game and the Gator’s special teams were very much a part of that futility. The Crimson Tide blocked a Florida punt and field goal in the first half to steal away much of the Gators’ early momentum.

Houston body slams

More ugliness in the Lone Star State on Saturday at Houston’s TDECU Stadium as security detail got a little overzealous when it came to preventing Cougar fans from rushing the field after beating Western Kentucky in the AAC Championship. The security company has since lost its contract with the school.
