Georgia may have a new man running its offense. A man who’s not unfamiliar with leading SEC offenses.

According to Footballscoop.com, newly hired coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have hired Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Jim Chaney to fill the same position at UGA.

The site also reports that Arkansas offensive line coach Sam Pittman will fill a similar role with the Bulldogs. Pittman and Chaney coached together under Derek Dooley at Tennessee.

Before serving with the Panthers this season, Chaney was the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Arkansas from 2013-14 and at Tennessee from 2009-12.

Chaney, 53, has had an up and down career as an offensive coordinator but has worked in several different offensive systems. While he’s led pass-heavy offenses, he also has experience guiding a power-running attack like he did in his two-year stint at Arkansas under Bret Bielema.

Smart inquired with Arkansas about offensive coordinator Dan Enos, according to Bielema, but Enos has a non-compete clause in his contract.
