There have been some major SEC quarterback shakeups over the last month.

Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray are out in College Station. And now we know that former Oklahoma QB Trevor Knight will be competing for the starting role for the Aggies.

The Florida situation is even more complex. Will Grier, suspended for a year, is transferring. Treon Harris never looked capable of running the offense. And now the Gators have a few young prospects committed. Former Purdue QB Austin Appleby is also headed to Gainesville.

So do both Knight and Appleby have a chance to help their new SEC teams?

Let’s start with Knight.

He has the more favorable situation by far. With Allen and Murray gone, it looks like Knight will be the frontrunner ahead of Jake Hubenak to start in 2016. He had 2,300 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 10 starts for the Sooners in 2014.

Knight should fit well in Kevin Sumlin’s system.

Appleby also has experience. He threw for 1,449 yards, 1o TDs and 11 interceptions in 2014. In 2015, he played in five games and threw for 1,260 yards, eight TDs and eight interceptions.

But the Gators also have locked down four-star QB Feleipe Franks.

There are other quarterbacks on the Florida roster, but it will most likely come down to Appleby and Franks.
