The SEC East will need some immediate contributions from top freshmen prospects to continue to close the gap on the West.

Several teams are restocking the cupboard with instant playmakers on both sides of the ball. Here are a few who could be impact talents as true freshmen in 2016:

Georgia QB Jacob Eason

One of the top-rated quarterbacks in the nation could be a day one starter at Georgia. He’ll battle with Greyson Lambert and Brice Ramsey, but neither returnee did anything in 2015 to guarantee a spot at the top of the depth chart. With a big offensive line and two 1,000-yard running backs returning, Eason would have the supporting cast to carry him through some of the freshman woes.

South Carolina WR Bryan Edwards

The Gamecocks are in needed of a top wide receiving threat with the departure of Pharoh Cooper and Edwards wants to make an impact as a top receiver early in his college career. Looks like a good match as long as the Gamecocks have someone who can get him the football.

Kentucky OL Landon Young

Young is rated a five-star prospect by Rivals.com, and even though the 6-foot-7, 300-pound recruit isn’t an early enrollee, he’ll get every chance to play at right or left tackle when he arrives on campus in the summer.

Florida DB Chauncey Gardner

With Florida losing several players in the secondary to graduation or early entry Gardner can step right into a situation where he can at least be the nickel back like Vernon Hargreaves and Jalen Tabor were before him.
