For the eighth time in franchise history, the Denver Broncos will be playing in the Super Bowl. Three other teams have made an appearance in the big game eight times: the New England Patriots, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys.

Broncos QB and former Volunteer Peyton Manning hasn’t had a spectacular year, throwing 17 interceptions but just 11 touchdowns, but the AFC Championship was a clean performance for Manning.

Patriots QB Tom Brady tried to stage a comeback with less than two minutes left in the game, and he was able to find Rob Gronkowski in the end zone, but the two-point conversion was intercepted in the end zone, leaving the Pats to suffer a 20-18 loss.

Manning was 17 of 32 for 176 yards and two touchdowns. His win over Brady puts him at 3-2 against Brady, and it sends him to his fourth Super Bowl appearance, and his second in four years.

If Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers win tonight against the Carolina Panthers, it will pit two SEC quarterbacks against each other in the Super Bowl for just the third time in history.

In Super Bowl XI in 1977, Kenny Stabler (Alabama) and the Oakland Raiders defeated Fran Tarkenton (Georgia) and the Minnesota Vikings. In Super Bowl XLI, Manning and Indianapolis Colts took the win over Rex Grossman (Florida) and the Chicago Bears.
