The 247Sports Composite rankings go back to 2000. Rather than look at career five-star signees, we calculated how many five-star players every SEC coach has recruited at his current program.

For example, that’s why Will Muschamp is listed with zero despite recruiting six in his four years at Florida.

We also calculated how many five-star recruits each coach signs per season. Georgia’s Kirby Smart secured three five-star prospects in his first recruiting class in Athens, giving him an average that ranks right behind Alabama’s Nick Saban (3.6) for 2nd-best in the conference, for what it’s worth.

Mark Richt took his five-star recruiting talents to Miami after signing 25 of them in his 15-year tenure with the Bulldogs. That made up 24.3 percent of the total signees on this list entering last season.

Arkansas’ Bret Bielema got on the board with one (DE McTelvin Agim) for the first time in four recruiting cycles. Kentucky’s Mark Stoops has yet to land one in four cycles while Vanderbilt’s Derek Mason has failed to do the same in three.

Saban leads in both categories. His total of 36 is nearly double that of LSU’s Les Miles despite enjoying two fewer cycles than Miles. Saban “only” reeled in three this year, his lowest total since 2012. However, eight of these SEC coaches have yet to recruit three total.

Outside of Miles, Saban’s 36 is more than the rest of the coaches combined (32).
