Overreaction Monday? Several Ole Miss fans call for self-imposed bowl ban in 2016
At 3-4 and coming off a tough 38-21 road loss to the LSU Tigers, things haven’t gone according to plan for coach Hugh Freeze and the Ole Miss Rebels.
With possible NCAA sanctions coming in the near future, many fans of the program are now calling for the Rebels to self-impose a bowl ban in 2016 to attempt to appease the NCAA.
FOX Sports analyst Clay Travis proposed the idea after the Rebels’ loss to LSU on Saturday night:
Ole Miss should announce a bowl ban on Monday.

Fans and other media members chimed in with their thoughts on the matter:
Ole Miss should put out a bowl ban for this season just so the NCAA won't kill us

So I said it before the season that if Ole Miss was sitting ugly midway through the season to go ahead and ban themselves from bowl.. #ncaa

@CoachHughFreeze time to self-impose that bowl ban.

Assuming we can beat Vandy, the Egg Bowl will be for bowl eligibility. Why not mea culpa and self impose the bowl ban for the NCAA?

If Freeze and Ole Miss did anything wrong, go ahead and self impose a 1 year bowl ban now. Why not?

@VegasRebs can we go ahead and impose that bowl ban now and get the NCAA off our backs? ???

Although, as one fan notes, the Rebels may be on their way to banning themselves from a bowl in another way — by failing to win six games:
I don't think we've chosen the most ideal way to impose a bowl ban, but I applaud our creativity.

The Rebels host a hot Auburn team this Saturday night, so Ole Miss may be staring 3-5 in the face come this time next week.
