The ACC is not happy with Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher’s postgame rant about the officiating, which he described as “cowardly” and “gutless” over a chop block call, in Clemson’s 37-34 win over the Seminoles. Fisher now owes the conference $20,000.

A conference press release states that Fisher’s comments were in direct violation of the ACC Sportsmanship Policy:

“Public criticism of officials or public comments evaluating the officiating of particular contests is not in the best interest of intercollegiate athletics. Individuals associated with the athletics program are prohibited, therefore, from commenting while acting in an official capacity on officiating other than directly to the Conference office.”

The FSU coach is unlikely to lose any sleep over $20,000. Florida State currently pays a salary of $5,250,000, the fifth-highest among college football coaches. That number could go up if LSU comes calling about its current coaching vacancy.
