Goldberg is, without a doubt, one of the best wrestlers ever to be a part of the WWE universe. Since making his WWE debut in 2003 and making his return in 2015, he’s been one of the biggest draws for the show.

However, after losing to Brock Lesnar on Sunday night at WrestleMania, Goldberg, a former Georgia defensive lineman, decided enough was enough and made a passionate farewell speech at RAW on Monday night:

“Ladies and gentlemen, this ain’t part of the show,” Goldberg says in the video. “Here are the facts. The facts are that in October I as approached to make a return after 13 years. There’s a hell of a lot I had to think about. Physical limitations, age, desire. By the way, this ain’t no damn script. I’m speaking straight from my art so I’d appreciate it if you’d listen.”

“Sure, you may have wanted that invincible s— that you saw 13 years ago, but the fact is things changed just a little bit. I am still that guy, but I’m a guy whose focus has moved directly to his family. As human beings, for the right reasons, we can accomplish great things. I like to think doing it for my family and the WWE Universe is the right reason.”

At 50 years old, Goldberg has accomplished everything he can in the wrestling world, and he acknowledged that it is time for him to move on and spend more time with his family.

Following Goldberg’s Georgia career, where he excelled at defensive tackle, he was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the 11th round of the 1990 NFL Draft. He played football until 1995, appearing in 14 NFL games before making a smart career decision and switching to wrestling.
