Editor’s Note: It appears the report of Jacquez Jones’ commitment to Tennessee was premature. We’ll update the story as news is reported.

Tennessee has been closing the deal with some of its main targets since Saturday’s Orange and White Game.

Jacquez Jones, a 3-star linebacker prospect from Tuscaloosa, Ala., announced his commitment to the Vols on Sunday, according to Jesse Simonton of rivals.com.

The 6-foot-2, 224-pound outside linebacker became the fourth prospect to pledge to Tennessee since Saturday, joining Michael Penix, Cameron Wynn and Jatavious Harris, and the eighth verbal commitment for the Vols’ 2018 class.

Jones is rated as the No. 44 outside linebacker prospect for 2018 and the No. 23 prospect from the state of Alabama, according to the 247Sports Composite Ranking.
