Many of the nation’s elite prospects for the Class of 2018 won’t commit for months to come, but that won’t prevent programs from contacting them every single day until that decision is made.

Few players are garnering as much attention as 5-star quarterback Justin Fields. The nation’s top-ranked dual-threat passer has an offer from nearly every major school in the country and is being pursued hard by the SEC. After decommitting from Penn State earlier this month, Fields took visits to Auburn, Florida State and Georgia. Once those visits were completed, he made his way down to Bradenton, Fla., where he competed for the IMG National Championship as a member of Cam Newton’s All-Star 7-on-7 team.

At the event, Fields spoke with Josh Newberg of 247Sports and provided an update on his recruiting process. Specifically, the Harrison High School quarterback revealed which teams have stood out so far and which ones are currently pursuing him the hardest.

“Georgia, Florida State, Florida, Auburn, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Alabama a little bit,” Fields told 247Sports when asked which schools have stood out; he then added a small caveat. “I just don’t talk to the (Alabama) coaches as much as the others.”

There are some experts who believe the in-state Bulldogs have a slight advantage. Fields’ sister committed to play softball at Georgia, and the two siblings are said to be extremely close. Although Georgia has two highly-touted quarterbacks already on the roster in Jacob Eason and Jake Fromm, it is apparently pushing hard to add another in-state phenom.

After he was asked which schools were after him the hardest, Fields revealed a notable trio, “Georgia, Florida and Florida State.”

Fields did not set a timetable for his decision, and it’s one that will likely continue well into the fall. Whichever school ultimately lands the 5-star prospect, they will have a major cause for celebration. As a junior, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback threw for 2,770 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions while also gaining 1,176 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground.
