When the Jacksonville Jaguars selected RB Leonard Fournette with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, they had big plans of making him the focal point of their offense.

However, Fournette has been battling a toe injury this summer and has been out since the Jags’ first preseason game last week.

But, according to 247Sports, the former LSU star is confident that, when the Jaguars take the field against the Houston Texans in Week 1 on Sept. 10, he’ll be ready:

“I’m very confident,” Fournette said. “That’s nothing to worry about.”

Though he anticipates being ready for the regular season, he added that it’s been tough having to miss important preseason work:

“It’s very frustrating.” Fournette said. “You want to be out there with the team, your boys. I’m just competing every day, working my way back to practice. It should be good.

“I never had a foot or toe injury or nothing like that [before]. They’ve done a great job with rehabbing a lot of us. I think it’s going pretty good.”

How much work Fournette gets remains to be seen, but if he’s healthy, the ball will likely come his way plenty during the early part of the season.
