Though the Georgia Bulldogs easily defeated Appalachian State on Saturday, the victory came at a price.

Sophomore QB Jacob Eason went down during the game with a knee injury and now his status for this weekend’s game at Notre Dame is in question.

However, on Tuesday, coach Kirby Smart wouldn’t rule out having Eason travel to South Bend with the team and said the talented sophomore hasn’t missed a beat in meetings this week (via Rivals.com):

“Sure,” said Smart, when asked if he’d allow the sophomore to travel. “He’s been in all the meetings, he’s been involved in everything. I hope he’s throwing soon. I hope he’s on the trip. I wish he could play.”

Eason completed one of his three pass attempts before leaving with the knee injury.

Freshman QB Jake Fromm took over and led the Bulldogs to the win. Fromm is expected to make his first career start on Saturday night at Notre Dame.

That game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on NBC.
