Imagine you’re a football player making the transition from high school to college.

The last football game you played on the road was at Johnson County High School (or some other generic high school name). Your next game is on the road at Alabama.

That’s what a few true freshmen and newcomers for Fresno State experienced last weekend when the Bulldogs traveled to Tuscaloosa to play the Crimson Tide.

Here are a few interesting quotes from some of those young guys who recently spoke with BarkBoard.com about the experience.

RB Ronnie Rivers: “Running out at the beginning of the game and seeing the crowd, hearing everybody boo. That was a crazy experience that I never really had before. You always want to compete and try to get a ‘W’ when you’re out there. It was a cool experience to play in. I wish we could have came out with the win.”

DE Damien DeGruy: “I was nervous at first. After the second snap I got used to it.”

DT Keiti Iakopo: “I can see why Alabama is Alabama. Then again, they’re human too. We should have played a lot better. It was crazy, I’ve never been booed so loud in my life. I got chills, it was cool — it was like something from a movie.”

WR Derrion Grim: “That was the first time I ever got booed coming out of the tunnel. I was smiling super hard, but they were really great fans. Afterword, they all said great job. I know it was just for us to throw us off. At the end of the game they were great.”

This had to be a traumatizing experience for some of the Fresno State players.

Then again, Alabama is human too … Right?
