Through four games this season, Tennessee QB Quinten Dormady has completed a serviceable 58.7 percent of his passes.

However, he knows he can do better, and the Vols will need him to step up his game starting this weekend, when No. 7 Georgia comes to town.

On Tuesday, Dormady said he thought he made some progress against UMass, but knows he still has work to do.

Starting at the 9:40 mark of the below video, Dormady addresses his accuracy issues and how he’s working to make sure his passes get where they need to be on time:

“I mean, you obviously want to throw off a good platform and be able to follow through your throw,” he said. “But in a game it brings different situations where maybe if you slide and set your feet, you’re going to be late, so you kind of have to throw while you’re sliding. It just comes with practice.

“And, yeah, I haven’t been the most accurate. I think this past game was a huge jump, and I definitely, definitely worked on that throughout this past week of practice, making sure that I’m on platform as much as possible. But there are definitely times throughout the game where you’re not going to be able to get into a perfect platform to throw.”

Whether Dormady can improve this weekend remains to be seen, but he’s at least acknowledging that he needs to do better and it sounds like he’s taking the necessary steps to make that happen.
