On Tuesday, star Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson declared for the 2018 NFL Draft after a season in which he finished ninth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

On Wednesday, his teammate, RB Kamryn Pettway, followed in his footsteps, also announcing his intention to go pro.

Pettway posted a farewell message to Auburn fans and thanked coach Gus Malzahn in his post, as you can see below:

Pettway battled a series of injuries this year, so he never really got going, but 2016 was an outstanding year for the big, bruising back.

In 2016, he ran for 1,224 yards and seven touchdowns. This year, he had only 305 yards, but still managed to score six touchdowns.

How will his injuries and ineffectiveness in 2017 affect his draft stock? That remains to be seen, but the Auburn backfield took another big hit on Wednesday.
