Don’t call it a comeback.

The XFL doesn’t want us to call it a comeback, but on Thursday, Vince McMahon announced the return of the professional football league.

The XFL, according to McMahon, will “give football back to the fans.”

McMahon announced that the league, which is set to return in 2020, will have nothing to do with politics or social issues, and that all players will stand for the national anthem. He also said that “no one with a DUI” will be allowed in the league.

For those with checkered pasts — like former Texas A&M star Johnny Manziel — perhaps the league might not become home after all. That didn’t stop Manziel from tweeting out his excitement about the league.

Others joined Manziel in sharing their plans to get involved.

How successful will the XFL be this time around? Who knows, but it’ll have 2 years to build some hype, which doesn’t look like it’ll be an issue.
