Conference breakdown from Day 1 of NCAA Tournament: SEC undefeated, Pac-12 eliminated
The first day of the NCAA Tournament has come and gone, and what an opening day it was. The first game — Oklahoma vs. Rhode Island — went into overtime, and there were plenty of other drama-filled games as well.
After getting eight teams into the tourney, the SEC acquitted itself nicely, going 4-0 through the first 16 games.
Other conferences (cough, Pac-12, cough) faltered, as even the powerful ACC finished 1-3 on the day. Here’s a breakdown of how each conference fared in the opening day of March Madness:
- SEC: 4-0
- Big Ten: 2-0
- Big 12: 2-1
- American: 1-0
- Big East: 1-0
- MAC: 1-0
- Missouri Valley: 1-0
- WCC: 1-0
- A10: 1-2
- ACC: 1-3
- Big Sky: 0-1
- Big South: 0-1
- Horizon: 0-1
- Ivy: 0-1
- MAAC: 0-1
- Mountain West: 0-1
- Southern: 0-1
- Southland: 0-1
- Summit: 0-1

Day two tips off on Friday afternoon. If it’s anything like day one, it’ll be a lot of fun to watch.
