When the 2018 NFL Draft starts at the end of this month, former Georgia LB Roquan Smith likely won’t be on the board for long.

In fact, he could be a top-10 pick, and has been linked to the Oakland Raiders, who have the 10th pick.

On Wednesday, NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah said new Oakland coach Jon Gruden might be interested in Smith because of his similarity to Tampa Bay Buccaneers legend Derrick Brooks:

“You look at Jon Gruden having been around a guy like Derrick Brooks, I would think he could see a little bit of Derrick Brooks in a guy like Roquan Smith,” Jeremiah said. “That would make some sense.”

Brooks was a member of the 2014 NFL Hall of Fame class, so that’s high praise from Jeremiah. Brooks also won a Super Bowl with the Bucs under Gruden’s leadership.

The Raiders have some talent on both sides of the ball, so it would be a good landing spot for Smith. However, we’ll have to see if he’s still on the board when the Raiders are picking.
