There’s a good chance Chad Morris and Arkansas land a commitment from their top quarterback prospect for the 2019 recruiting cycle as Mississippi native KJ Jefferson recently revealed when he plans to announce his commitment.

The 6-foot-3, 211-pound Jefferson is currently rated as the No. 1 quarterback prospect from the state of Mississippi and the No. 17 dual-threat QB in the nation by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Jefferson has visited Fayetteville multiple times this spring but he also holds scholarship offers from Georgia, Mississippi State, Mizzou, and Texas A&M among others.

Thursday evening, Jefferson announced he plans to make his commitment known publicly on Friday.

Jefferson has drawn some comparisons to Deshaun Watson, Morris’ former star pupil at Clemson, and could potentially be the ideal fit for the offensive system that’s currently being installed in Fayetteville. Last season as a high school junior, Jefferson passed for over 3,000 yards and had 36 passing touchdowns. He also added 1,325 yards on the ground and another eight scores.
