Jimbo Fisher is still 0-0 as Texas A&M’s coach, but there are signs the new head Aggie is building a contender in the SEC West. Roughly nine months on the job, Fisher and his staff have assembled a 2019 recruiting class of 24 commitments. The class features 13 blue-chip commitments (4- or 5-star) and ranks No. 3 nationally on the 247Sports Composite.

One of Fisher’s former players sees it as a preview of what to expect over the next few seasons. And that could mean trouble for LSU.

“Jimbo at Texas A&M scares me,” former LSU quarterback Matt Flynn said on a radio show Friday with former LSU tailback Jacob Hester on 104.5 FM ESPN Radio, per Glenn Guilbeau.

“He’s in Texas, where he can get all the talent he wants,” Flynn said. The former LSU singal-caller has some familiarity with Fisher recruiting in Texas.

In fact, it was Fisher, then offensive coordinator at LSU, who recruited Flynn, out of Tyler, Texas, to commit to the Tigers’ 2003 class. The class ranked No. 3 nationally.

Though Flynn is concerned about Fisher feasting on Texas talent, LSU’s 2019 class is shaping up nicely as well. The Tigers are currently have 19 commitments in a class with Composite rankings of No. 4 in the SEC and No. 7 in the country.
