If the college football world outside of the SEC footprint was upset when two teams from the league made the College Football Playoff last season, what would happen nationally if three league teams made it at the end of this season?

While that’s not going to ever happen, Pat Forde’s latest Yahoo! Sports column has three SEC teams in the Playoff as of right now. It should be noted that Forde does note that his rankings are a reflection of what he believes the Playoff should look like if the “season ended today.” Meaning, he’s not necessarily predicting this to happen but giving credit where credit is due after the first two weeks of the season.

Forde’s current top four looks like this: No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Clemson and No. 4 Auburn.

So much for the football played outside the Southeast!

It’s no surprise to see Georgia getting so much respect after beating South Carolina 41-17 on the road and Auburn winning in Atlanta over Washington. Alabama appears to be on another level after two weeks on the field. Meanwhile, Clemson’s road win against Texas A&M looks even more impressive now that we have an idea of what Jimbo Fisher has to work with in College Station.

Auburn’s next test comes this weekend, as the Tigers host LSU. Alabama goes into a hostile environment for the first time this week, too, with a trip to Oxford looming. Georgia is set to host MTSU this weekend.
