Following Week 4, ESPN has ranked the Power 5 conferences based on their chances to be represented in the College Football Playoff.

Surprise, surprise – with Alabama and Georgia sitting at Nos. 1 and 2 in the AP Top 25, the SEC is No. 1. The real question is whether the SEC will send two teams to the CFP again.

For the first three years of the CFP, the question was which one Power 5 conference would be the odd man out. But after Alabama and Georgia delivered an epic championship game, it’s become harder to argue against two teams from the same conference.

ESPN’s Heather Dinich shared her evaluation at the chance of two of Alabama, Georgia and LSU making the CFP, with a particular focus on UGA. In short, the Bulldogs would need to leave the SEC Championship Game with only one loss.

Dinich writes:

If Georgia loses before that game — and doesn’t win the SEC title — it’s unlikely the SEC would get two teams in again. What if, though, LSU’s only loss is to Alabama? What if the SEC’s two teams are Alabama and LSU? It’s a long shot, considering LSU has the second-toughest three-game stretch (Georgia, Mississippi State and Alabama) in FBS this season, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index.
