After coming into the 2018 season with many thinking they would compete with Georgia for an SEC East title, the South Carolina Gamecocks have struggled so far this year.

A lot of those struggles can be tied back to QB Jake Bentley and the offense, which has been inconsistent for most of the year.

On Saturday night, that prompted NFL Draft analyst Jon Ledyard to call for the Gamecocks to bench Bentley. Ledyard said Bentley’s poor decision-making skills have plagued the Gamecocks for too long:

For a quarterback who is consistently described as cerebral, his decision-making is mind-boggling on a regular basis. Honestly, outside of a good arm and athleticism, I’m not sure what Bentley has going for him. He’s killing South Carolina’s offense with his inefficiency, and he’s not the only one.

There’s little to no chance the Gamecocks actually bench Bentley, but it’s safe to say they were hoping to see a little bit more from their highly touted quarterback this season.
