Many believed Urban Meyer was finished at Ohio State in August when reports surfaced suggesting he knew of a former assistant coach’s allegedly abusive behavior toward his ex-wife. But the Buckeyes merely handed down a three-game suspension for Meyer, whose tenure at the school appeared set to continue for a while.

Yet one pundit thinks Meyer’s time is almost up as Ohio State’s coach.

Paul Finebaum said on Wednesday’s edition of the ESPN show Get Up! that he believes this will be Meyer’s final season in Columbus. Finebaum cited the tumultuous last few months and the national championship coach’s chronic headache issues as reasons for him to call it quits and shake up the college football landscape.

“I sense (his time) is coming to an end at Ohio State,” Finebaum said (via 247Sports.com). “This is observational. I’m watching him. Don’t forget the month of August, one of his worst months ever. I still feel like it’s a bad marriage. We’re hearing him talk about his health. Most coaches don’t talk about their health unless it’s a very serious situation. I think this is a precursor to him walking away at the end of the season much like he did six or seven years ago at the University of Florida.”

Finebaum’s reasoning makes sense, especially when you consider that Meyer likely wants to leave Ohio State on his own terms after the school investigated his actions in August.

Do you think Finebaum is right, or is this simply wishing thinking on his part?
