As we enter the home stretch of the college football season, there are a number of players approaching some impressive milestones in the SEC. Some may get there, some may not, and some may need next season to reach those milestones.

Here’s a look at some notable players and predictions on their pursuits.

Drew Lock, Missouri

Milestone: 12,000 yards of total offense

Needed to reach: 828 yards

Yes or no? Yes

Lock, who should move past Georgia legend David Greene and into the top five on the SEC’s all-time list, will likely become just the third player in SEC history to reach 12,000 career yards of total offense, joining Aaron Murray (13,562) and Tim Tebow (12,232). In fact, he could end his career second on this list, needing to average 265 total yards per game in his final four regular-season games to catch Tebow’s mark.

Drew Lock, Missouri

Milestone: 100 passing touchdowns

Needed to reach: 13

Yes or no? No

Lock should have no problem getting as high as third on the SEC’s all-time list for TD passes, needing just 3 to move ahead of Peyton Manning and his 89 tosses. But in order to join Aaron Murray (121) and Danny Wuerffel (114) on the 100-TD list in SEC history, Lock will need to step up his production.

Lock, who set the SEC single-season record with 44 TD passes last season, has only 16 this season. Missouri closes its regular season with games against Florida, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Arkansas. Last season, Lock combined to throw 15 TD passes against those four opponents, so it is possible. However, because his touchdown production is so far down from last season, I’ll take a pass on Lock reaching the magic number of 100.

Benny Snell Jr., Kentucky

Milestone: 4,000 rushing yards

Needed to reach: 641 yards

Yes or no? No

By no, I mean not this season. Only a junior, Snell would certainly get to the 4,000-yard mark in his senior season. But even though Snell is leading the SEC in rushing, at his current average of 116.9 yards per game he would fall just short of the mark, even when you include the Wildcats’ impending bowl game.

What could change things for Snell is a spot in the SEC Championship Game, which is what will happen if Kentucky beats Georgia this weekend. With an extra game and at his current rushing average, getting to 4,000 yards is more likely for Snell this season.

Nick Fitzgerald, Mississippi State

Milestone: 50 rushing touchdowns

Needed to reach: 8

Yes or no? Yes

Only one player in SEC history has rushed for 50 career touchdowns – Tim Tebow, with 55. Among the remaining opponents for the Bulldogs are Arkansas, which has allowed the most rushing TDs in the SEC this season (19), and rival Ole Miss, which has the worst rushing defense in the SEC (218 YPG). Fitzgerald has only 9 rushing touchdowns this season, so he will need to almost match his season total in the last five games. With the opponents remaining, the prediction here is he will get there.

A.J. Brown, Ole Miss

Milestone: 3,000 receiving yards

Needed to reach: 531 yards

Yes or no? No

Brown is the only receiver averaging 100 yards a game in the SEC this season (100.6). But in order to become just the sixth player in SEC history to have 3,000 or more receiving yards, Brown will have to improve on his season average over the final four regular-season games.

Like Snell, Brown could have a chance to reach the mark in 2019, if he were to return for his senior season.
