Saturday will be Chad Morris’ first experience inside Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi. While the Arkansas coach has never been to the stadium, he’s heard all about the cowbells of Mississippi State.

Morris will be hitting the road with his 2-8 Arkansas team for the final two games of the season, with the first stop coming against 6-4 Mississippi State in Starkville. If there’s a chance the Razorbacks get their first conference win of the season this weekend, the team is going to need running back Rakeem Boyd in the lineup.

During his Monday press conference, Morris provided the latest injury update on Boyd, as well as running back Devwah Whaley — who has been out of the lineup the previous few weeks.

“Rakeem was out there yesterday (at practice) in green,” Morris said. “We anticipate him being back. Devwah was in green yesterday, running around, going through workouts. We anticipate him being back, as well.”

The Arkansas coach also gave an update on linebacker Deon Edwards during his latest presser.

“Deon is back out there, yesterday in green, was an ankle (injury). We anticipate him being alright,” he noted.

Morris was then asked about his upcoming trip to Starkville, which will be his first inside Davis Wade Stadium. Of course, he’s heard all about the favorite prop of all true Mississippi State fans — the cowbell.

“I haven’t been there, I’ve heard about the environment and I’m sure it will be loud,” Morris said. “We will prepare our players for every environment we go into. From everyone I talk to, the cowbells are pretty loud.”

Morris was also asked to share his thoughts on Joe Moorhead and any history he had with the Mississippi State coach.

“I’ve had a chance to come in contact with Coach Moorhead several times, through different acquaintances, whether it is at the convention, and then since joining the league at the same time at different meetings,” Morris said. “I think he’s a great offensive mind, he’s won everywhere he’s been. I have great respect from what he’s done and what he continues to do.”

Finally, the Arkansas coach was asked if there was any possibility that Connor Noland or Stephen Jones see the field in the final two games of the season.

“Yeah, there is,” Morris answered. “If the game presents itself in a way, then… yes.”
