Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson loves to take shots at the SEC, so it’s no surprise he had an eyebrow-raising remark ahead of this weekend’s rivalry game against Georgia.

This time, it had to do with Georgia QBs Jake Fromm and Justin Fields, and it was relatively benign, but when it comes from Johnson, it takes on a different tone.

As you can see below, he mentioned that Fromm was “a really good player a year ago” and says he can see why Georgia has a quarterback controversy:

That’s interesting because Georgia does not, as a matter of fact, have a quarterback controversy. Fromm is the starter and the unquestioned leader of the team.

Could that all change next year? Sure, but for now, this is Fromm’s team and it would be just like Johnson to try to fan the flames of the imaginary “QB controversy.”
