Here is one thing Alabama fans will love about their new offensive line coach, he apparently has a serious eye for talent.

If you missed the news on Friday, the reports out of Tuscaloosa are that former Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood is taking over the offensive line duties on Nick Saban’s staff. Flood takes over for Brent Key, who left this offseason for Georgia Tech.

While Crimson Tide fans may not immediately be impressed by the hire, Flood must know what he’s doing when it comes to evaluating and recruiting young talent. One of Alabama’s highest-rated 2019 signees can attest to that fact as Antonio Alfano shared his connection to Coach Flood.

New Jersey native Alfano, the No. 7 overall prospect in the nation for the 2019 recruiting cycle, shared an interesting note on Flood soon after hearing the news regarding the coach taking over the OL duties in Tuscaloosa. According to Alfano, Flood was the first coach to offer him a scholarship, all the way back when he was in the eighth grade.

While things didn’t work out for Flood at Rutgers, he was dismissed from the program during the 2016 season, he’ll now have an opportunity to work with Alfano in Tuscaloosa for the foreseeable future.

If nothing else, this story has got to have Alabama fans excited about Flood’s potential as the next great recruiter on Saban’s staff.
