If Will Wade does return to LSU, he’s going to have to totally rebuild his roster this offseason.

That’s due to the fact all the star power from his team is jumping to the NBA following the team’s historic run to the regular-season SEC title. The latest player to declare for the draft is freshman Javonte Smart. The Baton Rouge native averaged just over 11 points per game, three rebounds and two assists for the Tigers last season.

Smart’s decision to leave school for the NBA is somewhat of a surprise although it should be noted that he is the player that was sat by LSU following the allegations made against Wade in the Yahoo! Sports story claiming the LSU coach made a “strong ass offer” to land Smart’s commitment. Smart’s public commitment to LSU occurred immediately after phone records indicate Wade had multiple conversations with former agent Christian Dawkins, according to Yahoo! Sports. Dawkins has since been convicted in a court of law following the FBI’s investigation into the corruption in college basketball.

Smart now joins Naz Reid, Skylar Mays and Tremont Waters as LSU players to declare early for the 2019 NBA Draft.

He made his decision public with the following post on his Instagram account:
