Cincinnati revealed some unfortunate news on Tuesday as rookie offensive lineman Jonah Williams is expected to miss his entire rookie season following shoulder surgery.

The former Alabama standout offensive tackle played three seasons in Tuscaloosa, starting from his true freshman season until he left early for the 2019 NFL Draft following his junior season with the Crimson Tide. Following his decision to leave school early, Williams was the 11th overall selection in the latest NFL Draft.

The Bengals officially announced that Williams had surgery to repair a torn labrum and the rehab is expected to cost him the entire 2019 NFL season. While that’s the bad news, the club is expecting Williams to make a complete recovery.

Following the news, first-year Bengals head coach Zac Taylor released the following comment:

“We look forward to Jonah being a major contributor in the future, and know that he won’t let this injury deter him from still being an important part of this team. We’re confident in our offensive line personnel as we head into training camp, and we believe they can do their part in helping this team achieve its goals.”
