A short time after SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey made an announcement that SEC Media Days would be in Atlanta and Nashville the next two years, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum offered his reaction.

“I think you can probably give the final salutation to Hoover,” Finebaum said on a panel on the SEC Network with Laura Rutledge, Marcus Spears and Greg McElroy. “I don’t sense it coming back here.”

Last year was the first time the event was not held in the Hoover-Birmingham area as the SEC took its annual July event to the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta. Before last year, Hoover’s Wynfrey Hotel held the event dating back to 2001. Last year’s event included a fan day open to all spectators leading up to the event.

While other events across the SEC have been held in the area, and the SEC office is in Birmingham, there have been discussions about how the league would handle the popular event that draws hundreds of media and fans.

“The baseball’s in Hoover forever, but (SEC Media Days) isn’t coming back here ever,” Finebaum said.
