In what appears to be a growing trend around the nation, another elite college football prospect has been ruled ineligible for his senior season of high school football.

The latest player to suffer that fate is five-star Texas A&M commit Demond Demas. The Texas native played for Houston North Forest as a junior but transferred to Tomball High School for his senior season. On Tuesday, the UIL State Executive Committee voted 6-0 to deny Demas his eligibility. This news comes via Texas reporter Nick Harris.

The issue here stems from the fact Houston North Forest did not sign off on Demas’ transfer for his senior season.

“I’m just trying to make a better living for myself, make better grades, and be in a better circumstance for myself,” Demas said at the hearing, according to Harris.

Demas is rated as the No. 13 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 2 receiver for the 2020 recruiting cycle. He has been committed to Texas A&M since September of 2018 and has remained steady in his pledge to the Aggies since that time. Unfortunately, it would appear Demas’ next snap of football may not come until he arrives in College Station unless he transfers somewhere else that will let him play — which may mean playing his senior season outside the state of Texas.

During his junior season at Houston North Forest, Demas caught 50 passes for 1,574 yards and 23 touchdowns.
