Every season, it seems like Alabama is overflowing with talented running backs. In 2019, Najee Harris is leading the Crimson Tide ground attack, but the No. 2 ball-carrier through two games might surprise some people.

Freshman RB Keilan Robinson got five carries on Saturday against New Mexico State, rushing for 80 yards and a touchdown, putting him at seven carries for 85 yards on the still-young season. The bulk of Robinson’s yards came on a 74-yard touchdown run.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Saban indicated there will be more opportunities for Robinson to show that home-run ability.

“We’ve been wanting to bring Keilan Robinson along because he’s the one guy that has juice that is a guy that’s a little different style of back than the other two guys that we play — really, the other three guys that we play,” Saban said. “So, hopefully, he’ll gain some confidence from making a great, long run today, and that’ll help him and we can utilize his skillset in the future.”

A Washington, D.C. native, Robinson was a 4-star recruit coming out of St. John’s College HS in the class of 2019. He had 24 scholarship offers.
