It’s about this time every year where fans start to question ESPN’s Football Power Index Top 25.

It updated after Week 6 results, and it’s, well, interesting.

The FPI is described as follows on ESPN’s website:

The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.

Following Florida’s 24-13 win over Auburn, the FPI has the Tigers ranked ahead of the Gators. Including Auburn, three one-loss teams are ranked ahead of the Gators, with Notre Dame and Oregon being the other two. Three-loss South Carolina is also ranked No. 25 this week.

One team that’s ranked too low? Missouri, assuming Kelly Bryant is okay, is a team that will ruin someone’s season in 2019.
