All 14 teams in the SEC will face conference competition in Week 8 this Saturday. Of those seven games, ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt provided a pick against the spread for five of them.

For a week of all conference games in the SEC, there are quite a few lopsided spreads. That certainly makes it difficult to bet, but it’s also probably why Van Pelt went with five underdogs in his five best bets in the SEC.

Here are the five with Van Pelt’s choices in bold:

South Carolina (+5) against Florida
Kentucky (+25) against Georgia
Mississippi State (+17.5) against LSU
Ole Miss (+6.5) against Texas A&M
Arkansas (+19.5)
against Auburn

Both Georgia and Florida are coming off disappointing losses (for different reasons) from last weekend and are looking to rebound against fellow SEC East teams. Meanwhile, South Carolina and Kentucky are coming off big wins. The Gamecocks knocked off Georgia in a big upset, 20-17, in double overtime, while Kentucky came back to beat Arkansas.

It looks like Van Pelt is counting on Mississippi State capitalizing on being at home against an LSU team that could still be enjoying its big win against Florida last week. Still, that’s a surprising pick since LSU has covered the spread every game this year.

Again, Van Pelt went with underdogs in the Ole Miss-Texas A&M and Arkansas-Auburn matchups. Both the Rebels and Razorbacks are home underdogs in those showdowns. Ole Miss is 2-2 in the SEC but Arkansas has yet to win a conference game under second-year head coach Chad Morris.
