2020 Knoxville Catholic (Knoxville, Tennessee) four-star defensive end Tyler Baron will announce his commitment on Wednesday, December 18, the first day of college football’s early signing period.

Baron shared this news on Twitter:

The No. 4 strong-side defensive end and No. 4 player in the state of Tennessee in this year’s class according to the 247Sports Composite, the hometown Volunteers are in the driver’s seat for Baron’s services with five of his seven ‘Crystal Ball’ predictions.

Primarily recruited by tight ends coach Brian Niedermeyer and defensive line coach Tracy Rocker, Baron would become the second highest-rated prospect in Tennessee’s 2020 haul.

Until a National Letter of Intent is signed, nothing is a done deal in college football, however. Baron holds a reported 37 offers and has taken official visits to Kentucky, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

Possessing promising size at 6-foot-4, 255 pounds, he also flashed some speed for the position with a 4.79 forty-yard dash at The Opening Regional in May.

Baron’s older brother, Woody, was a member of the Virginia Tech Hokies program from 2012-16.
