A spot has opened up in LSU’s 2020 recruiting class.

On Wednesday, 4-star Madison Prep Academy S Major Burns announced on Twitter that he has backed off his pledge to the Tigers. Burns shared a screenshot of a note:

Life is like a book. No matter where you think the next chapter may lead you, it can take you in an entirely different direction.

I’m writing my own book. The chapters written so far were mostly out of my hands, but as I’ve grown, I now control the pen.

I’ve enjoyed my time as a LSU commit, making a lot of lasting relationships along the way, but it’s time to turn the page and move on to the next chapter. I am officially an uncommitted prospect.

The Baton Rouge-native is rated the No. 5 Louisiana product, No. 11 safety and No. 157 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2020 on the 247Sports Composite. Burns, an Under Armour All-American, holds 31 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State and Texas A&M. He committed to the Aggies on Feb. 3, 2019, but decommitted from Jimbo Fisher’s squad on March 25. He pledged to LSU on June 6.

Without Burns, LSU still has 23 commitments in a class which ranks No. 2 in the SEC and No. 3 nationally.
